Exposed brick is where most wall decoration gives up. Wallpaper will not sit on it, vinyl lifts out of every recess, and hand-painting fights the texture for days. Our printhead rides the surface and lays ink into the face of the brick and down into the mortar joint, so the image belongs to the wall instead of hovering over it.

Mortar joints and all

Ink goes into the recesses, not across them. There is no bridging film to crack along a joint the first time the wall moves.

The straight answer

Brick reads differently from drywall and we would rather say so now: the texture breaks up fine detail, so bold graphic artwork and large imagery work far better on it than delicate photographic work. Send a photo and we will tell you which your wall suits before you pay for artwork.

Yard walls, shopfronts and gable ends. Outdoor prints carry an uplift and a shorter realistic lifespan than an interior wall.

NOTE Outdoor honesty: exterior walls are quoted at a higher rate and we do not claim the same decade indoors gives you. Weather, aspect and how sound the masonry is all matter, and a wall that is spalling or damp needs fixing before it is worth printing. We will tell you if yours does.

Can you really print onto exposed brick?

Yes. The printhead rides over the surface at a fixed height and the ink lands in the face of the brick and down into the mortar joint. It is not a film laid across the top, which is why it does not crack or lift along the joints the way vinyl does. Brick carries a modest uplift over smooth drywall for the extra ink and prep.

Will the brick texture still show through?

Yes, and that is the point. You read the image and the brick at the same time, which is what makes it look like it belongs to the building. If you want a perfectly flat, poster-like finish you want drywall or a skimmed wall, and we will say so.

Does the wall need sealing or preparing first?

It needs to be sound, dry and clean — no loose or spalling faces, no active damp, no flaking paint. Brush down dust and old cobwebs and that is usually enough. If a wall needs repointing or a damp problem solving, that is building work to sort before printing, and we would rather flag it from your photos than turn up and find it.

How long does it last outdoors?

Indoors we are comfortable saying around a decade. Outdoors is genuinely shorter and depends on aspect, weather and the state of the masonry — a south-facing wall takes far more UV than a sheltered one. We would rather set that expectation now than have you feel misled in three years.

Is this the same as painting a mural on brick?

The finished look is comparable, but a printed wall is photographic in accuracy and takes hours rather than the days a muralist needs on site. Hand painting wins if you want visible brushwork and an original artwork. Printing wins on accuracy, repeatability and speed.
